Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Pediatrics
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a pediatric unit caring for medical surgical and hematology/oncology patients aged 0-17. The unit requires float capability to PICU and NICU and offers 12-hour day shifts.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted if they meet experience requirement
Skills & Certifications
- Required:
- BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Ability to administer chemotherapy (Chemo)
- Preferred:
- IV start and lab draw skills
- Chemotherapy experience and certification preferred
Work Details
- Shift: 12-hour days (06:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Hours: 36 hours can be offered
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: Yes, to PICU and NICU
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Orientation: 24 hours unit orientation plus hospital orientation week one (attendance required for classes each day)
- Scrubs: Not provided (fun kid tops & navy pants recommended)

- Medical surgical and hematology/oncology patients

- EPIC
- SBAR
Important Policies
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Excessive call-offs or RTO may lead to cancellation and Do Not Rehire status.
- Maximum RTO allowed: 7 days for auto-offer
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Candidates must provide and maintain up-to-date:
- Background checks (within 6 months) including SSN trace, county and nationwide searches
- Drug testing (9-panel, within 6 months)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella vaccination or titer documentation
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Certifications:
- ACLS (if applicable)
- BLS
- PALS
- CHEMO certification (if required)
- Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must pass with 82% or higher)
- Photo for badge (passport style, solid white background, business attire)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and training modules including medication safety and confidentiality agreements

- Float to PICU and NICU required
- No call requirement

- Hospital orientation mandatory during first week
- Scrubs not provided; recommended attire specified
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
