Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Knoxville, Tennessee
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Level I Emergency Department)
- Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 PM - 3 AM
- Ratios: 4:1 patient to nurse ratio
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Schedule: Accommodations possible
- Locals: Candidates within 25-mile radius may be considered in urgent need situations
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Considered at interview
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- First-timers: May be considered based on previous experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted
System Experience
- Cerner experience is required
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
- Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Federal and international searches required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification (highest degree earned)
- State License Verification (Primary Source)
- NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
- Competency Exams as applicable (Medication/Pharmacology, Core Parts I-III)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam (within last 12 months)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (TDAP)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or positive titer; declinations accepted only under specific circumstances)
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis A (required for ED staff)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGOLD or Tspot within 3 months or 2 PPDs)
- TB Questionnaire (required annually)
- Drug Testing:
- 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Alcohol test included in 10 panel screen for facility
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required annually (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (recent, plain background, shoulders up, no filters)
- Fit Testing Form (for respiratory protection)
- Parking Form (facility-specific)
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years for travel positions
