Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Labor and Delivery RN
  • Must have experience with high-risk Labor & Delivery cases
  • Required certifications at submission:
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • STABLE certification
    • Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
  • Skills required: Circulate, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), preceptor and/or charge nurse experience
  • Triage experience preferred
  • Float within skillset required (Mom/Baby, postpartum, etc.)
  • Call requirements:
    • 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period
    • Must be on premises within 45 minutes of receiving call
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (0700-1930)
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • C-EFM (Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - If not currently certified, AWHONN certification accepted as placeholder but must register for C-EFM course
  • AWHONN certification preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Background checks including criminal history, education verification, and federal/statewide searches required
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within last year or per protocol)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Annual completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment and facility-specific modules

Work History and References

  • Two positive supervisory references required, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information

Schedule and Work Environment

  • 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Call required with on-premises response within 45 minutes
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Float to other related units as needed (Mom/Baby, postpartum)

This position is ideal for RNs with strong Labor and Delivery experience, especially those comfortable with high-risk cases and flexible scheduling including call and float duties. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
