Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Acute Care Hospital) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Inpatient Physical Therapist position in an acute care setting
• Patient population primarily geriatric with conditions including high functioning strokes, orthopedic surgeries, general weakness, and illnesses
• Pediatric patients and severe stroke or trauma cases are typically referred out
• Locals and first-time travelers are accepted at the same rate

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy experience required
• No prior travel experience required

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• State Physical Therapy License (primary source online verification)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
• National Tech Certification verification as applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check (annual)
• HHS/OIG check (annual)
• Education verification (transcript/diploma or NSCH verification)

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Competency Exam as applicable by profession/specialty

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (titer, vaccination, or history of chickenpox)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

• Clear, passport-style photo for badge
• Completion of facility-specific forms including security, confidentiality, behavioral expectations, HIPAA, and agency attestation
• Two professional references within 3 years
• Annual skills checklist

This position offers a structured acute care environment with a focus on geriatric patients and common inpatient rehabilitation diagnoses. It is suitable for therapists with at least one year of experience and does not require prior travel experience.
