Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (IR Tech)
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology Tech)
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- Call Requirements: 10 shifts per month including weekend call
- Weekend Requirements: Every 3rd or 4th weekend on call
- Holiday Requirements: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Guaranteed Hours:
- 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
- 3 twelve-hour shifts: 36 hours/week
- 4 twelve-hour shifts: 48 hours/week
- First Timers Accepted: Yes
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending State License: Accepted if application is submitted
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Indiana State Department of Health Radiology Technologist license
- ARRT (R) certification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or RQI accepted)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, TNCC, NIH Stroke, and other certifications may be required depending on unit (verify per assignment)
- National tech certification verification required within 30 days of start
- HIPAA Acknowledgement required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for IR Tech roles
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first timers accepted)
Job Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic radiographic procedures for radiological diagnosis
- Work with patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations
- Follow physician instructions and prepare/operate imaging equipment
- Position patients correctly to obtain requested diagnostic images
- Treat patients with care and respect
- May be required to scrub into procedures as needed
- May need to obtain advanced credentials in interventional radiology if applicable
- Knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during special exams required
- Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise patient positioning as needed

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years of history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas required (may be pending at start)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years)
Additional Notes
- Open to discussing block scheduling accommodations
- IU Health has restrictions on Indiana RN travelers effective 11/30/24; Allied travelers including IR Techs are exempt
- Pending license candidates must have applied prior to start
- Must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start
