Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks as specified)
Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 shifts; 18:30-07:00)

Job Description
- Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Nights
- Schedule: 36/48 hour shifts accepted
- Patient Age Range: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics
- Patient Diagnoses: Variety of complex diagnoses requiring critical care respiratory therapy
- Units: Level 4 NICU, Pediatrics, Emergency Room, Level 1 Trauma, Med/Surg, ICUs
- Average Patient Visits per Day: Approx. 40
- Patient-to-Therapist Ratio: Approx. 1:12
- Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory care across all settings including PICU, NICU, adult care areas such as ER and other units within scope
- Floating required to all care settings where respiratory support is needed
- Must be competent in both pediatric (PICU/NICU) and adult respiratory care
- On-call: No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years in respiratory therapy
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers with strong pediatric and NICU experience are accepted
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Equipment and Procedures
- Experience with Maquet Servo i ventilators, Draeger V500, Jet Ventilation, Oscillation, and Nitric Oxide therapy preferred
Uniform
- Scrub color: Navy blue (pink for trauma assignments)
- Pediatric department: Navy blue scrub pants with child-friendly tops allowed
- Undershirt: White if short sleeve, navy or pink if long sleeve depending on assignment
- Business casual allowed in some departments (no jeans, no open-toe shoes, no sleeveless tops, no shorts)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination proof required)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel or 10-panel + Fentanyl drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application and 5 years of work history verification required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be strong in both pediatric (PICU/NICU) and adult respiratory care
- Floating to various units within scope of practice is expected
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
- No prior travel experience required; open to first-time travelers with relevant pediatric/NICU skills
