Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Unit Information

• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Number of Beds: 20
• Staff: 40 (RNs and Patient Care Technicians)
• Shifts:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, 3 PCTs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 nurses, 2 PCTs
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Equipment Used:

  • Telemetry, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps
  • Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow
  • Chest tubes, Foley catheters, pacer wires/pacers
  • IV pumps, SCD pumps
• EMR System: Meditech

Job Description

• Fast-paced and challenging cardiac unit at a cardiac center of excellence
• High acuity patient population
• Typical procedures:

  • Chest tube placement and removal
  • Removal of pacer wires
  • 12-lead EKGs

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Progressive Care Unit or cardiac care
• Skills:

  • Experience with drips including heparin, tikosin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, ketamine
  • PCU and cardiac experience required

• Candidates with additional relevant skills and experience will be considered first
