Description
Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Evening/Nights, 8-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend, holiday rotation, no call
- Work Settings: Multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, and may float to IMC/Progressive/General care units as needed
- Facility Type: Academic Level 1 Trauma Center, Magnet® certified hospital
- Work Environment: Academic learning environment with opportunities for career growth and shared governance participation
- Floating: Travelers may be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years (highest required years of experience)
- Experience with multiple adult ICU units (Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, etc.)
- ICU experience with adult populations required
- Experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma Center required
- Successful completion of at least one prior travel assignment of 13 weeks (prior travel experience required)
- Epic electronic health record experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association only
- Telemetry certification/testing required before start
Additional Requirements
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed
- Must pass background checks and meet facility-specific compliance requirements
- Required to complete facility-specific Telemetry exams annually (Adult and/or Pediatric as applicable)
- Must meet all health and immunization requirements including TB testing, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccination or approved exemption, and others as per facility policy
Health & Compliance Documents (Summary)
- Background checks including criminal, caregiver screening, and education verification as applicable
- Drug screening per Vaya standard
- Immunizations and titers: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (or approved exemptions), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Meningococcal (if applicable)
- Physical exam (per agency standard)
- Pass/Fail Telemetry testing and rhythm interpretation remediation if needed
- Signed safety and orientation acknowledgments
Summary
This is a travel ICU RN position requiring strong critical care experience across multiple adult ICU specialties in a high-acuity academic trauma center. Prior travel experience and Epic proficiency are mandatory. The role offers evening/night shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation, no call. Flexibility to float across units is expected. The facility is Magnet® designated and highly ranked, providing a supportive environment for professional growth.
