Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Location: Glenview, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: 5x8 (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Call Requirements: Pre-assigned by coordinator; 1-2 shifts per week expected for full-time employees
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekend days per 8-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Option to pick up holiday call or fill in gaps as needed
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 for all shifts; 16 rooms and 16 beds
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years as an OR Registered Nurse (first-timers not accepted)
• Specialty Experience Required:

  • Vascular and ophthalmology OR experience required
  • General OR experience required
  • Vascular call experience required
• Preferred Experience: CVOR & Hybrid OR experience
• Surgical Case Experience Required:

  • Endo/Laparoscopic, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular
• Specific Vascular Skills:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Aortocaval fistula repair, Aortoenteric fistula repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Arteriovenous malformation surgery, Atherectomy, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, Renal artery bypass surgery, Scrub Vascular Surgery, TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair), Vein stripping
• General Surgery Skills:

  • Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Scrub General Surgery, Thyroidectomy (partial/total)
• Ophthalmology Skills:

  • Cataract extraction/implant, Eye trauma, Glaucoma surgery, Vitrectomy, Scrub Ophthalmology Surgery
• Urology Skills:

  • Cystoscopy
• Additional Required Experience: Trauma amputation experience
• Equipment/Supplies/Instrumentation Experience:

  • Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords
• Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Administration of blood products, Cardiac monitoring, Infection control, Laser safety, Radiation safety, Specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure

Required Qualifications

• License: Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Certifications:

  • BLS required
  • CNOR preferred
• Other Requirements:

  • Ideally no more than 5 days of Return to Office (RTO) restrictions
  • Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Additional Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations and titers: Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B (titer required), Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
• Drug testing (10 panel) within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Vision testing (Snellen and Ishihara color vision) within 1 year of start
• Medication, dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required (not required for OR RNs)
• Facility-specific modules and confidentiality agreements required (some completed on-site)
• Two professional references required
