Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900-0730), 3 shifts per week (36 hours), every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
Start Date: March 9, 2026


Job Description

  • Position in Labor & Delivery (Family Birthplace) unit, night shift
  • Patient care includes Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, Antenatal Testing, Triage, Induction, High-Risk pregnancies, Post-Partum Pre-eclampsia, and C-section
  • Unit includes LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) with a Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU)
  • Floating may be required within the specialty and sister units as needed
  • On-call is not required
  • Patient-to-nurse ratios vary by stage of care (e.g., Active labor 1:1, Post-partum 1:4)

Required Qualifications

  • License: Maryland RN license
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required
    • STABLE, FHM, AWHONN (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced) preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Work Requirements

  • Weekend shifts every other weekend required
  • Holiday shifts required as scheduled
  • Must be able to float within specialty and sister units as needed

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel) within 30-45 days of start
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation may be requested for tracking

Background and Documentation

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Education verification for highest level of education
  • Employment history verification for previous 5 years
  • Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor or charge nurse
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • I9 or attestation required
  • Facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed prior to start

Additional Information

  • Medication and competency exams required as applicable
  • Color blind testing required for all candidates
  • Unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start
  • Facility orientation and training requirements apply

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor and Delivery unit with a supportive team and a variety of patient care experiences in a Level II NICU setting.
