Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: 2E Overflow
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts
- Charge Nurse Coverage: May be required based on operational needs; training and resources provided. Candidates must be willing to take on charge nurse responsibilities if needed.
- Holiday Work: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- First Time Travelers: Not accepted.
- Locals: Not accepted.
- Pending License: Accepted if Indiana RN license, compact license, or temporary license is in hand at start.
- License Restriction: Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at these facilities except for Perioperative/OR RNs, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS).
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Registered Nurse)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (first timers not accepted)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- License: Valid Indiana RN license, compact license, or temporary license at time of start
Required Documents & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year history including SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (within 30 days of start)
- HHS/OIG (within 30 days of start)
- Transcript/Diploma (official, clear copy)
- Education Verification (completed by 3rd party)
- State License Verification (within 30 days before start)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Unit Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, 100% minimum score)
- Physical Exam (within 12 months of start)
- Fit Mask Test (within 12 months, specific approved respirators required)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year of start)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved exemption (required for 2025-26 season; declinations not accepted)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen (within 12 months)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Employment Application: Current with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills Checklist: Completed within 12 months and updated annually
- Facility-specific forms and orientation packets must be completed as a priority
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment with potential charge nurse duties.
- Indiana RN license restrictions apply after 11/30/2024 except for certain perioperative and ambulatory specialties.
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered.
- Must be able to work required holiday shifts.
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience looking for a 13-week travel assignment in a hospital setting with a focus on MS/Tele units.
