Job Opportunity: Med Surg RN - IU Med Unit

Employment Type: Contractor

Unit Beds: 47

Patient Population

Basic medical/surgical patients

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of RN experience in medical-surgical specialty
First-time travelers are welcome (no prior travel experience required)

Patient Ratios

RN Day Shift: 1:4-5 (based on acuity)
RN Night Shift: 1:5-6
Tech Day Shift: 1:7
Tech Night Shift: 1:9

Required Certifications

RN License (Medical-Surgical)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification

Skills Required

Telemetry competency

Unit Support

Charge Nurse (patient-free)
LPN support for entire unit
Receptionist during the day
Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech
Hospitalist available 24/7
Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
Phlebotomy support for peripheral blood draws

Technology / Charting Systems

EPIC
Alaris infusion pumps
Pyxis medication dispensing system

Orientation

At least one shift orientation to learn unit flow
