Job Opportunity: Critical Care ICU Nurse (RN)

Location

• Sheboygan, WI

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Information

• Lower acuity ICU
• Patient types include General ICU, Stroke, COVID, Medical, Surgical, Behavioral Health, Overdoses
• Patient ratio: 1:2-3 (days and nights), acuity based

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in critical care nursing

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers considered upon review (no explicit prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Skills Required

• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Experience with ventilators, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and line management
• Proning experience
• Bedside and nursing station telemonitoring (no tele tech in ICU)

Support on Unit

• CNA support (ratio 1:7)
• Charge nurse participates in patient assignments
• Phlebotomy available for peripheral blood draws
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Hospitalist available 24/7
• ICU Educator on staff
• Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy available weekdays
• No Health Unit Coordinator in ICU
• IV/VAT team presence unclear
• Resource nurse available (not additional to CNA)

Charting System and Equipment

• EPIC electronic health record system
• Alaris infusion pumps
• Pyxis medication dispensing system

Floating Requirements

• Must be comfortable floating to Cardiac and Stepdown units

Orientation

• One shift orientation to learn unit flow

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Time off approval up to 7 days
• On-call and holiday expectations vary based on unit needs
