Description

Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day/Evening shifts, 10-hour shifts
  • Scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM
  • No on-call required

Job Description

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan patient care in the Operating Room (OR)
  • Communicate and coordinate OR activities to ensure efficient surgical case progression and turnover

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
  • Must have Operating Room (OR) experience; orthopedic experience preferred

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association only

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
  • Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs

Required Qualifications and Compliance

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start date, including nationwide and sex offender searches
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Various facility-specific certifications and exams, including:
    • ACLS (as applicable)
    • Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing (for applicable units)
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams
  • Annual skills checklist and employment application required
  • Wisconsin BID form and caregiver screening mandatory
  • Immunization and health document requirements including:
    • TB testing and questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
    • Varicella vaccination or exemption
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
    • Other vaccines or declinations as required by department (e.g., Meningococcal for Microbiology)
  • Drug screening per agency standards

Notes

  • Facility requires strict adherence to testing and certification renewal deadlines
  • Candidates must complete required facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgments
  • Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
