Job Opportunity: Neurosurgery Nurse (RN)

Position Details

• Discipline / Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Neurosurgery (Neuro Spine Surgery Clinic)
• Employment Type: Contractor
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Weekend Rotation: None
• On Call: None
• Holiday Expectations: None
• Floating: No floating required
• Orientation: Up to 4 weeks; nurse will be the sole support for the provider

Unit Information

• Background position; nurse will not need to be in patient rooms most of the time
• Patient load: 10-20 patients per clinic day
• Patient types: Pre- and post-operative neuro spine surgery patients (no stroke patients)

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years strong neuro-spine nursing experience OR
  • 2-4 years strong clinic experience with willingness to learn neuro-spine
• Prior Travel Experience: Open to first-time travelers if well qualified (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • BLS certification required
  • ADN accepted if well qualified; BSN preferred
• Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently under pressure
  • Experience with clinic prep, care coordination (outpatient to inpatient and back), nurse triage including e-messaging, placing orders and referrals, patient education, medication reconciliation
  • Verifying surgery clearance with multiple specialties (cardiology, nephrology, pulmonology, etc.)
  • Must have EPIC EMR experience (clinic view only, inpatient workflow not required)

• Support team includes another nurse, receptionist, medical assistants, and leadership
• Scrub color: solid color or business casual

This role is ideal for an RN with neuro-spine or strong clinic experience who is comfortable managing patient care coordination and communication in a fast-paced outpatient surgical clinic setting.
