Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:15 PM - 6:45 AM)
- Hours: 36 hours accepted
- Schedule: Every other weekend required, no call
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Respiratory Therapy)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Epic Charting Experience: Required
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Acute care community hospital, 300 beds
- Departments: ER, adult med/surg, adult critical care
- Patient Age Group: Infants through geriatrics required; neonates preferred
- Pediatric ER and pediatrics only if competency demonstrated
- Will not be used in level 3 NICU
Responsibilities
- Nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy (CPT)
- High flow oxygen, non-invasive ventilation (NIV)
- Cough assist, intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV)
- Assist with intubations and bronchoscopies
- Mechanical ventilation management
- In-house transport of mechanically ventilated patients
- Continuous albuterol administration
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Hampshire
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working with infant, adult, and geriatric patients
- Proficient in airway management, medication administration, ventilator management, arterial blood gases (ABGs), oxygen therapy, suctioning, and nebulizer treatments
- Experience with Epic charting system
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Required:
- NH State Respiratory Therapist License (RRT)
- BLS (AHA Provider)
- Preferred:
- ACLS (AHA Provider)
- PALS (AHA Provider)
- CRTT
- RRT
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Must not be a former employee of any facility associated with the health system
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including:
- Social Security verification
- National sex offender registry
- Criminal background checks (excluding NH counties; NH state police search required)
- Education verification
- Drug screen: 10-panel within 14 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test annually (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or waiver
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) or approved exemption
- Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required prior to start
- Two professional references within last 3 years, including one supervisor reference
- Competency exams and pass/fail testing as required by unit (e.g., dysrhythmia/ECG)
Additional Notes
- Reduced rates apply for local travelers
- Will accept candidates with NH license pending
- Various facility-specific waivers and attestations may be required for exemptions (flu, Hep B, Tdap)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and other facility-specific documentation required
This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working nights in a trauma and acute care setting, including adult ICU and ER environments, and who have experience with mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory therapies. Prior travel experience is not required.
