Description
Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Department
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Department: Emergency Department (Level 2 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center)
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available; work includes cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks (days and nights)
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all ED sections
- Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications (must have before start date):
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience in Charge Nurse roles within the ED
Work Environment & Culture
- Known for strong teamwork and welcoming personalities
- Serves a diverse, multi-cultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the area
- Dress code: Navy scrubs
