Job Opportunity: RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Unit Information

• Unit: D2, 2nd floor, Mission Main campus
• Number of Beds: 20
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6 (stretch), depending on level of care
• Patient Population: Inpatient overflow unit with mixed level of care (medical-surgical and/or step-down patients)
• Patient Stay: Short stay patients (<24 hours length of stay) with quick turnover
• Equipment: Telemetry monitoring (all telemetry patients hardwired to bedside monitors)
• EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• Telemetry competency

Additional Information

• Floating: Travelers must be willing to float to other units as needed
• Dress Code: Navy and/or white top, navy bottom, or all white scrubs
• Schedule: Every other weekend required; no on-call required

Summary

This travel RN position in the Progressive Care Unit requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in telemetry or progressive care nursing, with mandatory BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications. The unit cares for short-stay, mixed-level medical-surgical and step-down patients with a focus on telemetry monitoring. Candidates must be adaptable, team-oriented, and willing to float to other units.
