Description
Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU/PCU/MS Float
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Float across ICU, PCU, and Medical-Surgical (MS) units
- Must be comfortable working all three specialties
- Staffing ratios: ICU 2:1, PCU 5:1, MS 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
- Shifts: 3x12 hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM), 4x12 shifts available by request
- Floating may occur every 4 hours, up to 2-3 times per shift
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Holiday requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- EPIC charting experience required
- Accepts first-time travelers
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid RN license in Virginia
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
Clinical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) experience
- Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, and central line care/management
- Experienced in blood product administration
- Skilled in management of BiPAP/CPAP, care of ventilated patients, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
