Travel Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit) - Cleveland, Ohio

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit)
  • Location: Cleveland, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
  • Unit: HVTI-Stepdown unit with potential to float to units J1-2, J33, and Emergency Department caring for similar patient populations

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Stepdown experience
  • Stepdown experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Ohio RN license or Compact State RN license in hand
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam must be passed during orientation

Work Requirements

  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • Shifts may be variable to meet operational needs, with best effort to honor preferences

Orientation & Competency Testing

  • Baseline competency exams on medication administration (SafeMedicate) and ECG interpretation during orientation; passing scores required (90% for medication, 80% for ECG)
  • Orientation includes completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start
  • Physical exam, fit mask test, immunizations, and drug screening required as per facility policy

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations required: Tdap (every 10 years), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (seasonal)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually

Background & Compliance

  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required

Documentation & History

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care practice in similar area
  • Two professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Skills checklist required annually
