Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Massena, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Shift: 7:30 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Days: 1:6
- Nights: 1:7
- Weekends: 1:8
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse, MS/Tele
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (Unit does NOT accept first-time travelers)
- Locals Accepted: Must live more than 50 miles away
Patient Diagnoses
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- Non-specific abdominal pain
- Cellulitis
- Chest pain rule out
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Required Skills
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Care for patients with CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) and seizure disorders
- Management of substance withdrawal
- BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and nasal cannula oxygen delivery
- Non-invasive airway management
- Oxygen administration and oxygen tanks handling
- Isolation precautions and PPE use
Licensing Requirements
- Valid RN license in New York
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with use of Rapid Response and Code teams
- Skilled in blood product administration
- Competent in central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care and management
- Ability to start and maintain IVs
- Experience caring for patients with cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and seizure disorders
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check including all aliases and multiple registry checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification from the registrar’s office (transcripts/diplomas not accepted)
- Harassment prevention training certificate (New York, required annually)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- Competency exam as required by specialty within 1 year of start
- Color blind testing (one-time)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
- Review of patient confidentiality, sexual harassment prevention, patient experience training, and compliance attestations prior to start
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years (TD not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire if applicable
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panel required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed agency declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
Additional Requirements
- 7-year work history verification (Aya’s attestation letter accepted as last resort)
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
- Two professional references required
Notes
- This unit does not accept first-time travel nurses; prior travel experience is required.
- Candidates must be able to meet strict health document expiration policies; documents expiring during the contract must be renewed prior to expiration or the candidate may be removed from the floor.
- Scrubs: Any nursing uniform color is acceptable.
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with MS/Telemetry skills who have prior travel experience and meet the comprehensive licensing, certification, and health requirements.
