Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Specialty: Neuro Critical Care with float to Medical Critical Care as needed
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 and 3:1
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period (night shifts include Friday/Saturday)
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Position is unit-based but may float within scope to meet facility needs
• Block Scheduling: Accommodated
• Local Candidates: Accepted within 25-mile radius
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holiday blocks (Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU nursing experience, with Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
• Background checks including 7-year criminal check, education verification, and federal exclusions (updated annually)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen with alcohol test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • TDAP vaccine or declination form
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGOLD or Tspot within 3 months or 2 PPDs)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccines
  • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declinations accepted only under specific circumstances)
  • Varicella immunity (vaccines, titer, or history)
  • Flu vaccine required annually (with exemption process available)
• Fit testing for respiratory protection required
• Photo for badge (recent, plain background, shoulders up, no filters)
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

Additional Notes

• Must work major holidays as scheduled, consistent with staff requirements
• Position requires strict adherence to facility policies and credentialing timelines
• Candidates must be able to complete all required documentation and verifications prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU RNs with Cerner experience who are comfortable with critical care patient ratios and holiday scheduling requirements. First-time travel nurses will not be considered.
