Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Oklahoma City, OK)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
- On Call: Rotating on-call including weekend call
- Unit Description:
Fast-paced ER with highly acute patients including transplant, burn, LVAD, total heart, PICU, NICU, L&D, comprehensive stroke center, ECMO cannulation, chest pain center. Patient volume ranges from 175-200 per day. Minimal prior experience requires at least a 30-bed ER background.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience in an acute care setting, with ED experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
- ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Certification (must be completed prior to start)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oklahoma
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
- ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Certification (must be completed prior to start)
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and a utility bill in the candidate’s name with matching address dated within the last 3 months; address must be more than 75 miles from the contracted facility
- No more than 5 days of Return to Office (RTO) allowed
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
- Locals not accepted (must be outside 75-mile radius)
- Pending state licenses are not accepted
- Must attend Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) and EPIC training if no EPIC experience within 6 months
- Fit testing (N95 mask) completed onsite on first day
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Immunizations and health screenings required: TB test, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (or approved exemption), COVID vaccination strongly preferred
- Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (due to federal funding restrictions) within 30 days prior to start
- References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
- Work history verification for the past 10 years
Competency Exams & Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (100% passing score required)
- Unit-specific competency exams with minimum 80% passing score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (90% passing score)
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams annually
- Conscious Sedation competency exam (if applicable)
- Annual HIPAA and OSHA acknowledgments
- Other certifications as required by unit or facility
Notes
- Candidates must complete all required facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start
- Must comply with all health and safety policies including drug and alcohol-free workplace
- Must complete fingerprinting and offender registration clearance as required by state law
