Description

Registered Nurse (Float Pool MS/Tele)

Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Float Pool RN working primarily in Medical/Surgical Telemetry units.
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts.
  • Coverage includes every other weekend.
  • Float pool nurses may work in 2 different units during a 12-hour shift based on need.
  • Patient population includes medical, surgical, and observation units.
  • Documentation system used: Cerner.
  • Float pool staff includes RNs, PCAs, and OAs; staffing is flexible based on unit needs.
  • Video monitoring system (Avasure) used for patient observation; coverage for breaks/meals required.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience.
  • Recent experience (within the last year) in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
  • Cardiology experience.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Certifications

  • PALS (American Heart Association only) – if applicable
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (required)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.

Work Hours & Guarantees

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours total).
  • Facility guarantees minimum weekly hours.
  • Client may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment; canceled shifts must be full shifts.

Required Background & Compliance

  • Massachusetts Statewide CORI (iCORI) background check required.
  • Standard background check within 1 year, including 7-year county and nationwide searches.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA.
  • Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel).
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
  • N95 fit test within last 6 months (specific mask models required).
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (with medical exemption process)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B immunity or signed declination accepted
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required September–April)
    • COVID-19 vaccine required; exemptions only for signed medical or religious reasons.

Additional Requirements

  • Badge photo required (passport style, head and shoulders, plain background).
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance checklists and questionnaires prior to start.
  • Two professional references required within 3 years of hire.

Notes

  • Traveler may be assigned to multiple units during a shift.
  • Facility uses Cerner for documentation.
  • First-time travelers with 2-3 years experience and EHR experience are considered.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

This position is ideal for RNs with cardiac experience looking for a travel opportunity in a flexible float pool role on night shifts in Massachusetts.
