Description
Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry Float
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Evening/Night shifts (12-hour) from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays as applicable
Job Description
- Float across multiple medical and surgical general care units, including intermediate care (IMC) units
- Care for complex and dynamic patient populations
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care
- Utilize critical thinking to assess patients, recognize complications, and intervene appropriately
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, advanced practice providers, and medical teams
- Opportunities to mentor, precept new nurses and students
- Participate in strategic planning, quality improvement, and Shared Governance initiatives
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Experience in Intermediate Care (IMC) units
- Basic Arrhythmia experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Requirements
- Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Flexibility to float to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
- Must complete facility-specific background checks and verifications as required
- Required to complete annual competency exams and telemetry testing as per facility standards

- State-specific caregiver screening and BID form for Wisconsin
- Immunization and health document requirements including:
- TB testing and questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
- Varicella vaccination or exemption
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Drug screening per facility and agency standards
- Facility-specific telemetry exams with remediation process if needed

This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with telemetry skills who enjoy working in a dynamic, multi-department float role and are comfortable with night shifts and weekend rotations.
