Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• 12-hour shifts (day/night), working 0700-1930 and 1900-0730
• Every other weekend and some holidays required; no on-call
• Provide care in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Transplant acuity adaptable unit
• Care for patients requiring specialized cardiac and thoracic surgery care, heart/lung transplants, and medical devices
• Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• CVICU experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
• Two years or more of acute care experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
• BLS & ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only)

Testing & Competencies

• Must pass Telemetry test before starting
• Required to complete annual Telemetry exams (Adult and/or Pediatric as applicable)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• May require additional competency exams based on specialty

Facility Requirements

• Permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
• Background checks and caregiver screening required per state regulations
• Various health and immunization documents required, including:

  • TB testing and questionnaire
  • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or exemption documentation
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
• Drug screening required per standard clinical protocols

• Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgment and pass/fail testing for Telemetry
• References: 2 clinical references within last 3 years required
