Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele)
• Shift: 4x12 hour shifts, Day/Night rotation (07:00-19:00 / 19:00-07:00)
• Weekends: Every other weekend required
• Floating: Floating between units is required
• Patient Ratio: Able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio on MedSurg
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Unit Type: High volume unit
• Unit Beds & Patient Types:

  • 26 beds: CHF, acute MI, post-device care (pacemakers), arrhythmias
  • 51 beds: General surgery patients including colorectal, ostomies, plastic/cosmetic, breast procedures, reconstruction surgeries
• First Time Travelers: Accepted
• Locals: Not accepted; must live more than 75 miles away

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with EPIC

Health & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:

• Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
• Fit mask test (specific mask types required, with accommodations if failed)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (during flu season)
• Snellen eye exam (within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required
• Transcript/diploma if education verification is not on file
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
• Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
• Employment application and work history verification required
• References (2 within 3 years) required for certain candidates

Additional Notes

• This is a tertiary care hospital setting with a total of 528 staffed beds
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Floating between units is mandatory

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience who hold a current New York RN license and are comfortable with rotating shifts and floating. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
