Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department, Trauma Nurse Lead
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
This is a Trauma Nurse Lead position working in the emergency room environment during the initial primary and secondary survey period. The role involves working nights and weekends in a high-stress trauma setting with 2 trauma bays in the emergency department.
Unit & Work Environment
- Trauma-focused emergency department with 2 trauma bays
- Equipment includes Level 1 rapid infuser, HOT LINE, EKG, GE CareScape (ultrasound), Hamilton ventilator, CAT tourniquet, Alaris IV pump
- Documentation system: Meditech EMR
- Scheduling: Nights and weekends required
- Floating: Not applicable
- On-call: Not applicable
- Dress code: Red top and black bottom scrubs
Required Certifications
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) – Current
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of trauma experience, with trauma experience within the last year
- Experience in Emergency Department (ED) nursing
- Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR assistance when needed
- Strong IV skills and background
- Experience running mass transfusions through Level 1 rapid infuser
Procedures Performed on Unit
- IV placement
- Spinal stabilization
- Splinting
- Assisting with chest tube procedures
- Traction
- Central and arterial line placement
- Emergency bedside procedures
