Description

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab

Location: Janesville, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day shift
Call Frequency: On call one night a week and one weekend a month


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab using the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Perform patient assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluation of care.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to nursing standards, policies, and state laws.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation in compliance with established standards.
  • Develop and execute individualized patient care plans as prescribed by physicians and hospital policy.
  • Educate patients and families to the appropriate level of understanding.
  • Participate in department/unit performance improvement and shared governance activities.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments to support patient care continuity.
  • Manage complex patient situations, delegate appropriately, and escalate issues through the proper chain of command.
  • Support professional development, evidence-based practice guidelines, peer review, and continuous learning opportunities.
  • For clinic and ambulatory settings, maintain patient flow and perform telephone triage as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required).
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of critical care experience.
  • Cardiovascular intervention experience required.
  • Current Wisconsin or Compact RN licensure.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Successful completion of EKG test.
  • Certification in National Institute Healthcare Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
