Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Job Description

• Night shift in ICU
• Seeking candidates available to stay through the summer
• Must be able to float within skill set at manager’s discretion
• Patient ratio approximately 1:2-3

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Ability to read cardiac rhythms
• Experience with Epic charting system

Testing & Competencies

• Must pass an advanced EKG/ECG test within 72 hours of contract signing (90% passing score required; 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blindness test preferred
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for RNs)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold test within 1 year (T-spot not accepted)
• Negative chest X-ray if past positive PPD, dated within 1 year
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
• Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870 quantitative test only accepted)
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)
• Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID
• Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender registry, and annual federal/state checks
• Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, lift assessment, and various health questionnaires/forms
• Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start date

Location Restrictions

• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from Saratoga Springs, NY, specifically excluding certain counties in the region for new contracts

References

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care positions
