Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Shift options:

  • 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, 5 shifts per week
  • 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM, 4 shifts per week
• On-call requirements: 2 weekend call shifts per month (part of 4 total call shifts: 2 weekend + 2 weeknight)
• Unit specialties include:

  • Phase I PACU
  • Phase II Recovery
  • Endoscopy/Laparoscopic
  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics (including Spine and Total Joints)

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must be located more than 75 miles from the facility
• Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), including Phase I PACU and Phase II Recovery
• Experience in Endoscopy/Laparoscopic, General Surgery, and Orthopedics (including Spine and Total Joints)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
• Tech Cert Verification - National
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Competency exams as required by specialty
• Physical exam and health requirements completed within 5 days of contract signing
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, sex offender registry, and education verification
• Government-issued photo ID required
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and orientation safety manual acknowledgment

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
• This role involves working in a fast-paced perioperative environment with a focus on post-anesthesia care.
