Description
Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shifts: Day/Night, 8 or 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730)
- Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no call
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Experience Required: CVICU experience required
- Additional Experience Preferred: Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area
- Equipment Knowledge: Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- CVICU nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine
- Basic Arrhythmia experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
- Education verification as applicable
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start
- Drug screening per clinical standards
- Physical exam (Aya standard)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
- Other vaccines/declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
Testing & Competency Exams
- Telemetry test (Adult or Pediatric as applicable) required before start and annually thereafter
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication with remediation process if needed
- Rhythm Interpretation Course required if remediation is necessary after failed Telemetry tests
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required prior to start
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with strong arrhythmia and telemetry skills, comfortable working rotating shifts in a critical care environment.
