Job Details

• Unit: 2E overflow
• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• First Time Travelers: Not accepted
• Locals: Not accepted
• Pending License: Accepted if Indiana RN license, compact license, or temporary license is in hand at start
• Charge Nurse Responsibilities: May be required with training and resources, depending on operational needs
• Holiday Work: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Restrictions: Indiana RNs not allowed to work past 11/30/24 except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
• NIH Stroke Certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (verify per cost center)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (verify per cost center)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - verify per cost center
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - verify per cost center
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - verify per unit requirements

Required Documents & Verifications

• Valid Indiana RN license, compact license, or temporary license at start
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year SSN trace, county criminal, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (within 30 days of start)
  • HHS/OIG (within 30 days of start)
• Education verification (highest applicable education)
• Official transcript or diploma (may be pending at start)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Unit competency exam
• Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, minimum 100% score)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (approved respirators only)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles): positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Mumps: positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Hepatitis B: series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (history not accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: preferred but not required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season (declinations not accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years (must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above)
• Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
• Completion of facility-specific forms and orientation packets prior to start (time sensitive)
• HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgements

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Notes

• Pending license holders must have valid Indiana RN license, compact, or temporary license at start
• Charge nurse duties may be assigned with training
• Must be willing to work required holidays
• No first-time travelers or locals accepted for this assignment

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 2 years in the specialty, who are comfortable with tele/medical-surgical nursing and meet the licensing and certification requirements.
