Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a high-volume Emergency Department with over 100,000 visits annually.
- Unit has 101 beds with typical patient ratios of 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for behavioral holds.
- Staffing includes techs working in cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks for day and night shifts.
- Equipment used includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors.
- Documentation system: Cerner.
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling commitment; schedule must meet department needs.
- Floating: No floating outside the ED, but flexibility to float within all ED sections is required.
- Patient experience standards include AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a nurse
- At least 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Current certifications required before start date:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
