Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Emergency Department experience to join a busy Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center. The unit handles a high volume of patients (>100,000 visits annually) and includes a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric emergency services. The ED is known for teamwork and serving a diverse, multi-cultural community.

Unit Details

Unit Type: Emergency Department
Number of Beds: 101
Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 medical; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
Staffing: Techs available; unit clerks on days and nights
Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
Floating Policy: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
Patient Experience: AIDET communication, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates

Required Certifications (Must have before start date)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department (ED) setting, including experience within the last year
Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
Experience in an acute care setting
Stroke experience

Additional Information

Dress code: Navy scrubs required
