Description

Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 24 weeks


Unit Overview

  • Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Number of Beds: 40
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Scheduling: 6-week schedules; 3 call shifts required within each 6-week period
  • Floating Policy: Float within peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II)
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Unit Staffing: Unit secretaries and 4 patient care technicians (PCTs) assigned to specific pods; PCTs assist with labs, catheterizations, and patient transport
  • Required Scrub Colors: Surgical green or navy

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in PACU
  • Stroke experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
  • Pediatric experience and experience working with pediatric patients
  • Trauma experience
  • NIH Stroke Scale experience
  • Ventilator monitoring skills
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
