Description

Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7am)
  • Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
  • Must have 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
  • Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • AHA or American Red Cross BLS & ACLS certification required
  • Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
  • One recent reference from a manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty required (Charge RN references accepted)
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) must be passed during orientation

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results received prior to extension
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
  • Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care setting in a similar area
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required

Orientation & Testing

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Baseline competency exams during orientation:
    • Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) with 90% passing score
    • ECG interpretation exam with 80% passing score
  • Candidates unsuccessful on first attempt will receive remediation and retake opportunities
  • Not required for candidates with less than 6 months gap since last contract at this or related facility

References

  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start date
  • References must be from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director
  • Co-worker references are not acceptable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start
  • Compliance with all health and safety requirements is mandatory
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 30 days may need to update physical and eye exams
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes
  • Candidates must maintain legal name consistency across all documentation

This position requires a highly experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN with current licensure and certifications, ready to work night shifts on a travel contract basis in Ohio.
