Description

Registered Nurse - LTC

Location: Newark, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Role: LTC House Supervisor (off shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Facility size: 180 beds across 5 units
  • Shift schedule: 3 eight-hour shifts and 1 twelve-hour shift per week (36 hours total)
  • Shift times vary: 11pm-7am, 3pm-11pm, 7pm-7am
  • Weekend coverage: Every other weekend
  • Prior charge experience required
  • Years of experience required: 2 years
  • EPIC experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates must live more than 75 miles away

Patient Population & Unit Details

  • Residents with dementia, diabetes, stroke, cardiac issues, orthopedic treatment, neurobehavioral conditions, and long-term care needs
  • Units include:
    • Neurobehavioral unit (dementia/Alzheimer’s with violent behaviors)
    • Rehab unit (post-orthopedic surgery, cardiac procedures)
    • Secure dementia unit (residents at risk for elopement)
    • Long-term care units

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical resource and problem solver
  • Provide staff mentoring and coaching
  • Facilitate patient flow during off shifts
  • Supervise nursing care across all units
  • Manage emergency preparedness and code management
  • Handle documentation related to patient death and fitness for duty
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, TJC, and other regulatory requirements
  • Manage wound vacs, PICC lines, nephrostomy tubes, tube feeds, catheters, colostomies
  • Support new admissions and centralized staffing
  • Coach and counsel staff to performance standards
  • Monitor productivity standards and staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Long Term Care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Previous charge experience in nursing roles
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • TNCC certification
  • Experience with code management and sentinel event monitoring and reporting
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs and PICC line care/management
  • Experience with productivity standards and staffing requirements
  • Proven ability to coach and counsel staff to meet performance standards
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
