Description
Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Schedule: Rotating weekends (4 days per 4-week schedule)
Call Requirements: No call
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Number of Beds: 14
- Staffing: 48 direct reports
- Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:1 and 1:2 depending on patient acuity
- Day Shift Staffing: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 5-9 RNs depending on acuity
- Night Shift Staffing: 1 CNC, 5-9 RNs depending on acuity
- Typical Procedures:
- CABG/Valve open heart surgeries (13-15 per week)
- ECMO cannulation and management (VA and VV)
- IABP and Impella management
- Dialysis/CRRT
- Devices Commonly Used:
- ECMO
- RVAD/LVAD
- Impella
- IABP
- CRRT/Dialysis
- Typical Device Load: 2-3 devices on the floor at any time
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Previous cardiac nursing experience, including open heart recovery
- Device experience with ECMO, RVAD/LVAD, Impella, IABP, and CRRT/Dialysis
