Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience to work in a high-volume Emergency Room at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The role involves caring for adult patients including neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and medical/surgical ICU cases.
Schedule
- Shifts: 3x12 hour shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Call-off Policy: Allowed 1 call-off shift per 2 weeks
- Floating: Required to float within skillset
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Critical care experience in a high-volume Emergency Room setting
- Level 1 Trauma Center critical care experience
- Airway management skills
- Experience with Epic charting system
Unit Details
- Patient Ratio: 1:25
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics
- Equipment: Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with the iNOvent, LTV1200
- Protocols: Robust Assess and Treat protocol with ventilator management and liberation policy
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- I-9 or attestation
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address verification (must meet radius criteria)
- Background check covering 7 years of history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Fit test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
- Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Required clinical references (2)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Completion of orientation and compliance documents prior to start
Additional Notes
- EPIC charting experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Locals not accepted due to radius restrictions
