Description

Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit: Adult Medical-Surgical (4 West)
  • Number of Beds: 34
  • Staffing (Day Shift): 1 Charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 HUC
  • Staffing (Night Shift): 1 Charge RN, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
  • Patient Ratios: Day shift 1:4-6, Night shift 1:5-7
  • Floor: 4th Floor
  • EMR System: Cerner

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care for med-surg level patients with telemetry monitoring
  • Assess patient condition and communicate changes in acuity to Charge RN, Manager, Rapid Response, or Provider
  • Perform typical procedures including IV fluids, tube feedings, PEG feedings, IV antibiotics
  • Participate as a team player, assisting CNAs and other nurses as needed
  • Follow unit policies including attending shift huddles and adhering to clock-in/out procedures
  • Work schedule includes every other weekend or approximately 6 weekend shifts per pay period

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in telemetry nursing or med-surg specialty
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification

  • Telemetry rhythm interpretation capabilities
  • Strong critical thinking and time management skills
  • Ability to assess and respond to changes in patient acuity
  • Good communication skills
  • Punctual and reliable

Additional Information

  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
  • Floating: May float to other med-surg units or holding pod of Emergency Department
