Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN)
• Shift: Primarily 4x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM); 3x12 shifts may be considered
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active prior to start
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Special Requirements:

  • Med/Surg experience mandatory
  • Preferred experience with telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management

Additional Requirements

• Completion of all assigned orientation and compliance modules prior to start date
• Attendance at staff meetings is mandatory
• Must upload COVID vaccination records if available; if not, must complete a vaccination declination form
• Flu vaccination required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption
• Physical exam and various immunizations/vaccinations (e.g., Tdap, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella) required as per facility policy
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Proof of 2 clinical references and complete employment application/resume required

• Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November; consider this before accepting assignment

Scheduling & Other Notes

• Block schedule accommodations may be requested but are not guaranteed
• Locals are considered for this role
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Floating between units is expected within the scope of practice

Compliance & Background Checks

• Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Various federal and state background screenings required (e.g., EPLS, HHS/OIG)
• Primary source verification of licensure and education as applicable
• Drug screening and immunization documentation must be current and compliant

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs with prior travel contract experience who are licensed in South Carolina and hold required certifications. The role involves night shifts with patient ratios up to 1:7 and requires flexibility to float between units. Compliance with all health and facility-specific requirements is mandatory before starting.
