Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Long Term Care
Location: Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility Type
- Nursing home attached to a hospital
- Approximately 70 beds/residents, majority private
Patient Population
- Dementia, frail elderly, rehabilitation patients
Work Environment
- EMR system: ECS
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- RNs: 1:20
- LPNs: 1:20
- CNAs: 1:8
- Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping
- Respiratory therapist on-site 24/7
- Pharmacy on-site with medication dispensing system
Job Duties
- Charting and assessments
- Charge nurse responsibilities
- Medication administration
- Clinical skills including IVs, catheters, ostomy care
- Floating between units as needed
Schedule
- Block schedule with 8-hour shifts
- Day and evening shifts staffed with 4 nurses and 7 aides
- Night shift staffed with 2 nurses and 3-4 aides
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: available for at least half of holidays during assignment
- No on-call or standby required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of Skilled Nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with geriatric and elderly patients
Additional Information
- No telemetry monitors on unit; RNs do not read strips
- No requirement to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Dress code: any solid color, clean and professional
- Orientation varies based on skills
- Must clock in and out at the facility
- Prior employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
