Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Fishers, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Nursing
• Unit: Lone Medsurg unit in a community hospital
• Patient Population: Patients from OR, ED, downgrades from ICU/PCU
• Patient Volume: Average 8-12 admits per 24 hours
• Staffing Ratio Goal: 5:1 patient ratio, occasionally flexing to 6:1
• Float: Possible float to ICU/PCU or ED for holds (medsurg patients only), every other week coverage
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
• Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, and education verification
• State license verification within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TB test within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam
• References: Minimum 2 from recent employment verified within 2 years, must be from charge nurse, manager, supervisor, or above
• Employment application with full work history and explanation of gaps over 30 days

Additional Notes

• Must be willing to work required holidays
• Float assignments are rare but possible
• Unit is fast-paced with multiple admits daily
• Strict compliance with all health and safety documentation is mandatory
