Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry, 16 bed capacity
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit.
- Must have foundational knowledge and practical skills related to cardiac monitoring.
- Required to meet scoring requirements for EKG/Dysrhythmia competency.
- Experience with pacemakers, IV insulin protocols, and Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) is required.
- Floating within scope to sister facilities may be required.
- No more than 5 days of Return to Office (RTO) allowed.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med/Surg Telemetry.
- Prior travel experience not accepted (first-timers not accepted).
- Experience specifically in Med/Surg Telemetry, pacemakers, IV insulin protocols, and CBI.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Oklahoma.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- EKG Course / Telemetry test.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- All certifications must be current prior to start date.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID.
- Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months; address must be greater than 75 miles from contracted facility.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and sanction list searches.
- Physical exam within 1 year stating good health and no physical limitations.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes.
- Immunizations and health documents including Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (or approved exemption), and COVID vaccination strongly preferred.
- Drug screening (10 panel including marijuana) within 30 days prior to start.
- Fit mask testing completed onsite.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety training.
- References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years).
Additional Information
- Must be able to pass multiple competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and unit-specific competency exams.
- Must complete annual core competency exams covering safety, patient rights, ethics, and other required topics.
- Floating to sister facilities may be required.
- Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
- Locals within 75 miles are not accepted.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with strong cardiac monitoring skills and required certifications, seeking a travel contract opportunity with night shifts.
