Job Opportunity: Critical Care ICU Nurse

Employment Type: Contractor
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Location: Green Bay, WI
  • Facility Type: Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU and Level III Maternity
  • Stroke Center Designations: Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Unit Beds: 36
  • Patient Types:
    • Multi-specialty ICU with high acuity patients including neuro, post-cardiovascular surgery, medical, surgical, and trauma ICU
    • No pediatrics, burns, or transplants
    • Special competencies required for post-cardiovascular recoveries, CRRT, and neuro patients; contract staff may not be assigned to these populations
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of critical care nursing experience
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Skills:
    • Management of tracheostomies, ventilators, chest tubes
    • Administration of vasoactive drips
    • Procedural recoveries
    • Temporary pacemakers

Unit Support and Environment

  • CNA support ratio: 1 CNA to 12 patients
  • Charge nurse does not take patient assignments
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with a dedicated tech
  • Bedside monitoring available
  • 24-hour intensivist coverage on unit
  • Mid-level provider coverage
  • Full-time ICU educator and cardiovascular coordinator on staff
  • Charting and Equipment: EPIC, Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication system
  • COVID-19 vaccine required

Additional Information

  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Free parking available outside inpatient entrance
  • First-time travelers considered upon review (prior travel experience not explicitly required)
