Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (18:50 - 07:20)
  • Schedule Requirements:
    • Float between mother/baby and scrub roles
    • Call required: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
    • Every other weekend required
  • Start Date: ASAP

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health requirements including:
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license verification
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as required, including medication and EKG/dysrhythmia competency exams (if applicable)

Additional Information

  • Locals within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate (not disclosed here)
  • Facility requires annual safety manual acknowledgment
  • Candidates must complete all required attestations and background verifications prior to start
  • Flu vaccine exemptions are strictly reviewed and rarely approved
  • Drug screen must include multiple substances and positive results require Medical Review Officer evaluation
  • EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (not specifically required for this role unless assigned to those units)
