Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU for the ER Holding

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Description

• Provide care for patients boarded in the Emergency Room (ER) holding unit, specifically in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
• Patient ratio typically 1:4-5, adjusted based on acuity.
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care cases.
• Work involves reading telemetry strips (Spacelabs monitors) and saving them into patient charts.
• Respiratory Therapists (RT) are available 24/7 to perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and manage ventilators and other respiratory equipment; RNs are not responsible for these tasks beyond troubleshooting.
• X-ray and CT imaging are available in the ER with dedicated techs for patient transport.
• No phlebotomy performed by RNs in the ER.
• Transport techs work until 10 PM.
• Dress code: Navy scrubs.
• Department-specific orientation provided during the first week.
• Shift length: 12-hour days.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday coverage based on department needs.
• No call or standby requirement.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience within the last year
• Successful completion of at least one previous travel nursing assignment
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

• This position requires prior travel experience.
• Strict adherence to the 100-mile radius rule is enforced.
