Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU for the ER Holding

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Based on department needs
Call/Standby: None

Job Description

• Provide care for patients boarded in the Emergency Room (ER) holding unit, specifically in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
• Patient ratio typically 1:4-5, adjusted based on acuity.
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care cases.
• Work closely with Respiratory Therapists (RT) who are available 24/7 but not housed in the ER; RTs perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and manage ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
• RNs are responsible for reading their own cardiac monitor strips (Spacelabs monitors) and saving them into patient charts.
• X-ray and CT imaging are available in the ER with dedicated transport techs (transport techs work until 10 pm).
• No phlebotomy performed by RNs; no phlebotomy staff in the ER.
• Department-specific orientation provided during the first week of the contract.
• Dress code: Navy scrubs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including at least 1 year of PCU experience within the last year
• Telemetry, Emergency Department (ED), or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience considered in combination with PCU experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Successful completion of at least one previous travel nursing assignment

• Strict 100-mile radius rule for travel to the assignment location.
• Prior travel experience is required for this position.
