Description

Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel Assignment)

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Heart Telemetry
Number of Beds: 25
Staffing: 40+ staff members
Day Shift: 1 free charge nurse, 1 unit coordinator, 2 patient care technicians (PCTs), 5 RNs
Night Shift: 5 RNs, 1 PCT
Patient Ratios: Typically 6:1, sometimes 5:1
Equipment Used: Baxter IV Pumps, KCI wound vacs, Sequential Compression Device (SCD) pumps
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Preferred Skills

Experience with Meditech EMR system
Prior telemetry experience

Typical Procedures and Skills

In addition to general medical-surgical nursing competencies, preferred skills include the ability to:

Manage chest tubes
Manage non-titrated Cardizem and Amiodarone drips
Manage weight-based heparin drips

Work Environment & Dress Code

Scrub color: Royal blue
Patient care on a telemetry unit with a focus on cardiac monitoring and related interventions
